Plymouth Station transfer guide
Plymouth railway station sits close to the city centre, with direct services to London Paddington. Plymouth has no commercial airport of its own — Plymouth City Airport closed to scheduled flights in 2011, so Exeter (around 40 miles) and Cornwall Airport Newquay (around 38 miles) are the nearest practical options. When arranging the journey, the most useful details are your exact pickup point, destination, date, time, passenger count and luggage needs. Giving those details clearly helps the booking process and reduces uncertainty on the day.
What to plan before travelling
- Confirm the exact pickup and destination.
- Allow sensible time for traffic, baggage and meeting points.
- Check passenger and luggage needs before selecting a vehicle.
- Use the related airport and station pages to plan onward travel.
Connecting from Plymouth Station
With no local airport, the drive to Exeter from Plymouth station typically takes around an hour via the A38, and Newquay is similar via the A30. Given the distance to either airport, a pre-booked taxi is a reliable way to plan the journey, particularly for early departures.
Airport, station and hotel connections
UK journeys often involve more than one transport point. You may travel from an airport to a city centre, from a railway station to a hotel, or between towns and airports. The related pages on this site help you move between these journey stages.
